Treatment Foster Care
The Treatment Foster Care (TFC) Program is the cornerstone of our offerings. TFC began in response to the need to find permanent placements for teens living in residential treatment facilities—the most challenging population of foster children to place.
In Wisconsin, there are over 6,000 children residing in the foster care system. They come to the system from situations of poverty, family crisis, drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence, physical and emotional abuse, neglect, teen parenting, and insufficient parental guidance. Many suffer from behavioral, psychological and medical problems and are often in need of caregivers who are specially trained to deal with their difficult needs. The teens have little or no hope of returning to their biological families or being adopted and are often resigned to living in these facilities until reaching the age of 18, whereupon they would be discharged from the foster care system and left to fend for themselves.
We aim to provide a better alternative to traditional foster care services for these children. TFC specializes in recruiting, training, licensing and retaining foster families who can provide a safe and nurturing home for children who have been faced with family dysfunction. We work diligently to recruit the best foster parents, equip them with nearly double the required level of training and focus on providing the children with all the necessary resources to achieve permanency goals. Smaller caseloads also allow staff time to work intensively with youth, their foster families, and the treatment team.
